| John Hamer's "happiest nine months of my life" in 2002/3. He came to me for a BUILD-A-BOAT COURSE in the late autumn, and took the hull away on its set-up when it had on enough planks to be moved. He had gained the expertise from me to finish planking and then complete the fit out. In the initial consultation, he said he wanted a boat to take three adults and two grandchildren + large Labrador. She was to be kept on a running mooring at Dittisham on the Dart, max. length 16ft. There followed fruitful discussion and I trawled through my design resources until I lighted on Paul Gartside's design no. 128. She's exactly 16ft overall, very beamy and so has enormous room as a 'take the whole family' boat. John's smile at her launch tells it all. |
