10ft Clinker Dinghy
If you already have a boat that you want to repair or restore, it is often best to bring it down to me to start with.   This dinghy, for example, goes easily on a car roof rack.

I usually start a discussion like this not by pointing out the faults or damage that you have most likely seen yourself. Far more important is for us to discuss what you want the boat to do and where you plan to use her. I can tell you if the boat is really suitable or not.

If not, you needn't (shouldn't!) spend any time or money on her.   If she will be suitable, we discuss what work to do in the first stage (not necessarily the most obvious problems) and what can wait.   We work out solutions for the best place for you to do the work and what you will need to make everything much easier and less time consuming.   We often finish this initial look by noting down together a plan of what needs to be done and in what order.
Then most people telephone me later, when they have started work, and need advice on particular processes or tools.
